Question:

Getting paid to dance at events?

I have been dancing (hip hop) ever since I could walk and it has always been just a hobby. But lately people have been offering me some jobs where I would get paid for it. I don't know if I should because it just doesn't seem right for me. It pays really really well.. but I just don't know if I would enjoy it as much if I got paid. Should I do it anyways?

  1. yah have at it, you can enjoy yourself and make money at the same time. just don't let them change your style.

  2. I think I understand what you mean.  Getting paid takes things to a different level.  You feel a sense of responsibility when you are being paid, that you don't necessarily have when you are doing it for fun.  I am a semi-professional belly dancer.  I do it mostly as a hobby.  I do paid events on occasion.

Give it a shot.  If you still aren't comfortable after a few paid dance gigs, you can go back to doing it just for fun.  If you do decide to go for it, be sure that you write up a contract.  That way the details are written down.  It protects both you and those who hire you for an event.  Good luck.

  3. yeah of course you should. you could even offer to do it for free if you really don't want the money. performing is tons of fun and you should really do it if you have that option. then again, if you don't like it after you first show, even when you're not getting paid, no one says you have to keep doing it.

    good luck :)

  4. what do you mean you wouldnt enjoy it as much if you got paid? lmao how is that possible go for it dude its something you love!

  5. Most people spend a lot of time trying to find work they enjoy.

If you're lucky enough to already have a skill that you enjoy and people are willing to pay you for it I say go for it.

Of course the thing to remember is that dancing and other physical activities are easier when you're young.  Make sure you do develop other abilities that you can continue to do once you get too old to really make a living at it.  (Sometimes this can be associated work such as becoming a choreographer.)  Just don't decide you don't need school or college because of opportunities now.  Later in life having the degrees becomes even more important.

  6. ofc! why would u not have so much fun?...just have fun doing your hobby and get paid along with it! i wish everyone else had the same opportunity... :D go for it

  7. why don't you just dance your way off a cliff you fairy
