Question:

Ghost switch

We have an old GE television (purchased in 1996) that works very well, but has suddenly developed the bad habit of turning itself on every evening about the same time. We had satellite TV hooked up to it, and after the installer left, the TV had this bad habit. I wouldn't be quite so bad if it was still on station, but for whatever reason, when it turns itself on, it also disconnects from the signal and we have to push "TV input" on the remote.

I'm assuming there's some kind of timer that's built inside, but I don't have a clue as to how to access it. I've looked at the menu and there's asleep timer on it, but it's turned down as low as possible and it still does this. Is there a simple fix or do I need to have it either exorcised or euthanized?
