My last question, I have several girl's names, asking which one was better, and three tied. So I'm doing it again, but this time, please only pick one absolute favorite, so I don't have to add up half points.

Francesca Ruby Jane Padraig "Frannie"

Genevieve Ruby Jane Padraig "Ginny"

Adelaine Ruby Jane Padraig "Adele"

  1. Adelaine, although I think Adelheid or Adelaide would be nicer.

You could nickname her Heidi. (Me)

  2. Ginny

  3. Francesca Ruby Jane Padraig "Frannie"

  4. Francesca Ruby Jane Padraig

You know, to be honest, I kind of dislike it, when someone picks a foreign name out of a name book and declares themselves an expert on it, when in reality, nobody who actually lives in that country would ever name their child that.

Adelheid is horrible, seriously. I am German, trust me. This name was popular maybe 50, 60 years ago. But not now. It's laughable and borderline cruel to give to a little girl. Most people associate it with middle-aged housewives.

Adalene and Adelaine, never even heard of those. They've probably long fallen out of usage. Loooong.

ETA: I'm not saying you should name your kid Maddison or Addison, I hate those names too. With a fiery passion. (why do people always assume that you love the trendy names, when you criticize something old-fashioned?)

Sure there are "old" names that are beautiful but Hannelore and Adelheid do not fall into this category. I don't know what else to tell you, other than that I live here (I'm 26) and these names are an absolute no-go. Even for people who love old-fashioned names.

Name her Marlene or Anny, but not Adelheid.

  5. Francesca Ruby Jane is my favorite. All of them are extremely gorgeous; so whichever you pick will still be lovely.

  6. Genevieve is a beautiful name and Ginny is a cute nickname. Very feminine and unique.

  7. Francesca, definitely. I like Genevieve and Adalene (especially the latter with the adorable nicknames of Lena and Addy), but I've always loved Francesca. Italian is such a beautiful language. Francesca also goes well with Ruby and Jane. Tough choice, though.

    Good luck.

  8. This is a tough one.  It's definitely between Genevieve and Adelaine.  Since you only want me to pick one, I'll go with Genevieve.  It's very sophisticated, and Ginny is so cute on a little girl.

While Adele is my favorite of the nicknames, I haven't heard the long version Adelaine before (except on your lists), so it seems slightly less legitimate than Genevieve.  Additionally, Adelaine Ruby Jane rhymes, so that makes the combination sound kind of silly.

I think Francesca is ugly.  I know a lot of people love it, but no matter how hard I try, I just can't.

  9. Genevieve or Adelaine.  I like both.

Francesca is okay, but I don't like Frannie (sounds like an old lady).

  10. I like Adelaine the best. I think that it is really cute, and you should definitely use it.

  11. i really like Adelaine Ruby Jane

  12. Genevieve Ruby Jane Padraig "Ginny". I say this because I think people will call all of those names by a nickname. And I think Ginny sounds the best nickname.

  13. Genevieve Ruby Jane Padraig "Ginny"

  14. Genevieve has my vote!

I know I liked Adelene earlier... It's a close second.

  15. I would choose Francesca, but I do not like the nickname Frannie. So I'm going with Adelaine instead.

  16. oh i LOVE Genevieve Ruby Jane Padraig, i have a friend named Genevieve. except, instead of "Ginny", we call her "Genny". it sounds exactly like "Jenny" except spelled with a "G".

    make the current tally this:

    Francesca - 1

    Genevieve - 7 (yes!)

    Adalene - 6

    hope i helped!

  17. Genevieve Ruby Jane Padraig "Ginny"
