Question:

Girl question; please help?

Okay, so I'm 13 years old [[haha; first time I've ever actually put my age on here]]. I've never shaved my legs before, I just use Nair. It's becoming more of a problem, though, because it's really expensive and half the time something goes wrong [[like it'll still leave random hairs on my legs; even when I leave it on the right amount of time]].

So, I was wondering if I should start shaving? I don't want to worry about shaving my legs every other day for the rest of my life, but obviously every other girl in my school can manage. I don't know if I should. My mom doesn't think I should [[she'll let me if I want to; but she thinks I'll regret shaving this early]]. I agree with her; but at the same time, she gets tired of having to buy me Nair all the time; and I'm sick of having to remember to do it, for it to not even work as well as I'd want it to.

So, honestly, what do you girls think?

Thanks!(:

  1. SHAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  The shaving cream doesn't matter.  But my favorite razor is the "venus embrace 5 blade razor", Remember that. It's the best razor out there, and I've tried a lot.  I just turned 14 afew days ago, and have been shaving for 2 years.  Here's my advice.  Only shave 2 inches above your knee, unless your thigh is really dark.  Only in spring/ summer shave you thight( if you wear a lot of short shorts and skirts) Don't shave a lot in the winter, your legs aren't showing so it doesn't matter.  Don's shave every day or you won't get a close shave.  That's all the advice I have. Good luck, I hope I helped you!

  2. If you are already using nair I don't see why you should not shave. You practically have to do it as often anyway and shaving is cheaper because the blades last a while.

  3. Hi:D

i started shaving my legs at 13 and it was no problem for me...but i do shave about once, sometimes twice a week....the razor and cream is not too expensive depending on what brand it is but if you feel you are ready and want to then why not? go ahead!

    Hope i helped

    =)

    Xxxx

  4. Would your Mum take you and would you be brave enough to start waxing? That way you'll never have rough stubble to deal with and by the time you're 30 you'll have virtually killed all the hair follicles anyway so it'll be great. Wish my Mum had suggested it to me when I was young.

It's uncomfortable the first dozen or so times but it honestly does get easier and less sore and as I say, the future benefits are fab.

  5. i had the exact same problem

my mom didnt want me to start shaving with a rasor

she said the hair would grow back thicker

and it would be too much of a hastle

but it really isnt that bad

  6. the time span doesnt matter

because if you start shaving, your still gonna have to shave every other day and it takes twice as long as using nair

i would much rather use nair or wax than shave

  7. Hey there,

    I would stick with nair.

When you shave, the hairs grow back thicker, darker and more coarse. They also start to grow back quicker than previously.

So generally, you are creating more problems for yourself in the long run!

I've been shaving since age 13, and now i have to shave my legs every other day to keep them smooth. I also suffer ingrown hairs as a result of shaving, which every girl who shaves does. These are itchy, sore, unsightly and uncomfy.

So if i were you, i'd stick with nair as long as you can.

  8. there are certain razors and shaving creams that work to get the hair out more from your legs (deeper from inside ur leg where the hairs start). u just have to look for the right one when you are buyin em. it isnt painful or nethang its just like every other razor and shaving cream really. so yes i think you should start shaving. you dont perticularly hav 2 shave every other day really. and when you pick out ur razor u want to buy one with the razor blades not so close together cuz then the hairs clogg up in the razor and dont come out easily. so good luck! hope this helps

  9. I started to use Nair yesturday, because I never tried Nair hair remover, and I totally irritated my skin and I won't buy it again. I prefer to use sally hansen spray hair remover. You just spray a light coat over your legs, leave it for 5 minutes or so, and use a washcloth to remove the hair. If you find a good technique, it gets rid of most of the hair. The spray can does last me a long time though. One can for like over a month. I don't remove hair all the time though. Just when it gets too hairy and I feel up to the challenge. Try other products than Nair. It is not the only hair remover out there.

I have shaved my legs before, but I got tired of feeling stubble the next day. Shaving took me too long in the shower, and didn't get most hairs, and didn't last very long.

I did try wax on my face once and I quote, "OWWWWWW!"

  10. hi,

    Have you concidered Wax?

    It does not hurt and lasts for some time :}
