I remember with my daughter, I had to be sewn up, and they put stitches that dissolve I guess after a certain amount of time.

How long until they are gone?

Also, anyone remember how long their period was after they gave birth?

  1. The stitches I had took about 2 weeks to dissolve.  The swelling took a month to be less pronounced.  The scar took 2 years to get less pronounced.  The lochia (it's not menstrual fluid) lasted about 5 weeks the last time.

  2. my first I had 217 stitches and it took almost 5 weeks before they dissolved, My period never came I had gotten pregnant with #2 at 11 months and had been breast feeding so had never had one.

#2 I had about 96 and they took a long time because the lip had been torn so instead of riping l, I ripped --, horizontal was worse and I got my period 2 weeks later and every 28 days after that.

  3. I don't know how long it took for my stitches to fully dissolve, as I had a post-operative infection, and they mistook the infection for an undissolved stitch. The whole disaster took about 17 weeks to sort out, so I really don't know!

In terms of periods, I was breastfeeding and mine came back after 4 and a half months.

  4. can't answer the stitches thing since i've had 3 c-sections. My with my first daughter my period came after 7 weeks....my second was about the same...with my third...well she is 21 months and still nothing. I guess it had a lot to do with i breatfed my last.
