  1. Contacts for astigmatics are super-expensive.

if you sleep in your contacts, you'll wake up with unhappy eyes, and they can roll into the back of your head!

If you really want contacts so badly, I suggest you get a part time job and pay for them yourself - that'll also show your mom that that you can be responsible, which is bound to pay off in other ways. If you can't find a job, maybe you could earn the money (and respect!) from your parents by doing extra chores or runing errands or something.

    good luck!

  2. i also hate wearing glasses too and i also have astigmatism, but i can't afford contacts. the only way is to get a job to pay for the contacts. to get yourself a one year supply, it will cost about $300 for specially made ones and another $100 for the fitting. that is why contacts are expensive. and also, if you sleep with your contacts, they will roll to the back of your eyes and they will be very uncomfortable.

  3. i got my first pair of contacts at 15.  it wasn't hard either.  you just have to not be squeamish about putting something in your eye.

just DON'T fall asleep with them in.  they get REALLY dry & they're really uncomfortable.  plus they can stick in your eye and be really hard to get out.  they DO have contacts that you can sleep in, but ask your dr.
