OK they say global warming is damaging earth OK they say all this stuff and yet they don't do nothing. they act like they scare to go to China and say to much air smoke or what ever china do is bad for the earth. I think there nothing we could do to change what is going on this happen before back in the day and what they did nothing because there was nothing to do. What your thought on this and why explain because i don't get it.

  1. I am against global warming. I do not believe in it. It is a very bad idea.

  2. I don't believe in agw, but I do know that natural temperature changes do occur from time to time.  The evidence for agw is skimpy and weak.  Tens of thousands of scientists have said that too.  So no, it isn't real.  If it was the temperature would be rising and it isn't.

  3. IT'S NOT GLOBAL WARMING IT'S GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE. WTF??? THE WHOEL EARTH ISN'T WAMRING ONLY PARTS OF IT. SOME PARTS ARE GETTING COLDER. The point is, climates are changing and it's messing with the oceans and the freshwater systems and the animals who are geared for the old climates not the new one and can't cope. It all trickles down to us so IT'S TIME TO TAKE CLIMATE CHANGE SERIOUSLY PEOPLE!!!!! Thanks.

  4. Yes--but not in the sense you mean.

Global warming is not about "belief"--yours, mine, or anyone else's. It is a fact, based on and proved by evidence. You don't "believe" or "disbelieve" a fact--you either know it or you are ignorant on the topic.

As for being able to do anything: human activity (burning fossil fuels and deforestation) are the primary causes of today's global warming. We have the power to choose to use different technologies to produce energy that don't cause global warming and we have those technologies available. Its up to us whether we decide to do so. But the notion that we can't do anything is simply wrong.

As for China--it is estimated by the World Health Organization that up to 1 million Chinese people are dying each year due to air pollution. The Chinese government is a communist dictatorship, however--and no such government has ever given a d**n how many of its people it kills to get what it wants.

  5. I do belivev in global warming whether it is caused by us or not is the question.  Think globally act locally.  We can do a lot this way if each of us makes a small change in how we live and consume.  Remember government is a big big system and it takes a lot to move it .  Right now I have friends that are putting up turbines on their farms to harvest wind it doesn't happen overnight but it is beginning to take place.  You are right it does seem to be taking a long time I will agree with you on that.  Shoot I would love to put solar on my house, wish I could get a buck or two from about 6000 people to do it.

  6. You will see many claims about China, many questions of this type usually bring out the conspiracy loons as well. The fact is China is currently producing ~25% of the world co2 a little ahead of America, but it is also a fact that America and Europe have a 150 year head start on co2 production and as co2 is a long lived gas ~75-100 years most of the man made co2 in the atmosphere is American and European in origin, and for all their other faults, China know there is a problem and are trying to do something about it. There a large well funded effort to derail work on AGW coming from groups like the Heartland Institute but their constant quoting of the same half dozen experts is getting a bit weak, which is why in the real world, outside forums like this, acceptance of AGW is running at over 85%.

It is pretty easy to spot those who have been sucked in by the heartland BS they will talk about the completely discredited hockey stick diagram "it isn't"

    http://environment.newscientist.com/chan...

There are a number of replies here that talk about NASA and correcting data, but with no links, and for good reason because either they would show that the corrections are only minor or they would go to the many different denier sites that spout different and conflicting theories, it's not happening, it's happening but it's not us, only God can end the world? not to mention the other factions the "I hate Al Gores" and the "it's a communist plot group" I'm sure there must be a group out there that can link UFO's to this as well.

  7. To start with, the evidence is overwhelming! AGW is real ,and increasing. The reason that nothing is being done to slow it down is that Cheney had the reports censored. That led to the oil companies rolling out the propaganda machine to discredit the science, and the scientists!  Do you think that the price of gas is connected to the super secret meetings that Cheney had with the oil companies before 9-11? Any "scam" or "hoax" that is going on, is the one about fossil fuels not causing AGW!

  8. Well let us take a few points in order on the subject. First the entire basis of the whole AGW cult has been blown out of the water when an independent researcher discovered a serious error that some feel was deliberate in the data stream used to create the hockey stick graph. Now that NASA has gone back and found the original unaltered data and corrected the files it seems that all warming stopped before the year 1940 and that the hottest year in the last 100 was 1934 not 1998.

Also since 1940 it has warmed to just below the 1934 level twice and cooled well below that number twice, so in fact it seems that basically the climate has flat lined since 1934 with some minor fluctuations. So now the whole AGW thing is seen as what it is just a way for the oil companies to skim more profits out of the pockets of the worlds people and raise enough extra money to fund a charismatic presidential candidate to maintain their profits into infintium against the threat of nuclear and space based solar generation of power.

  9. Here is my two cents (2 points) once again. Those who are trying to deny Global Warming have one thing right. The climate changes have occurred in the past; and have and are repeating on a cycle. This means that the earth routinely cleans itself up. Now in the past the degree of dirt (pollution) to be cleaned up was less than today, and if we keep going the way we are it will be much more dirty. So when the cycle hits it will be more catastrophic in order for the Earth to clean itself. And if you take a look at Katrina the Earth doesn't care who gets washed away.GLOBAL WARMING OR CLIMATE CHANGE IS NOT ABOUT SAVING THE PLANET IT IS ABOUT SAVING US.

  10. 1st, you need to specify anthropogenic ( man made ), or natural GW. If the first, I believe it is a hoax, as does the founder of the Weather Channel - who actually IS a meteorologist, unlike OwlGore.

Did you read Mars is getting warmer also? No SUVs or power plants there last time I checked.

  11. I believe living a environmently friendly life style will be good wether global warming is do to our bad lifestyles or not. One thing i do belive is that people are getting out of hand with saying we are the sole reason for global warming.  I watched a documentary and it said the the climate of most countries over the past ten years is exactly how it rwas round about 100 years ago and is just another phase mother earth goes through but i wouldn't rule out pollution being the cause of global warming.

  12. Global Warming is not a proven fact.!! The temperature readings are from some very old thermometers, and they were not calibrated. So it is a scam for Gore to make money, and even He does not believe it so why should U.

  13. It's clear that the earth is warming up.  Now yes, it's been warming up for 10,000 years, since the last ice age, but it's warmed faster in the last ten years than ever before, in fact much much faster.  Much, if not all, of this warming is caused by the use of fossil fuels which increases the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere and increases the 'greenhouse effect'.  We can stop this if we want.  Of course the powerful interests that sell and profit from fossil fuels don't want to do that.

Global warming will cause many bad effects.  It will cause worse weather disasters because things like hurricanes and thunderstorms happen because of contrasts between cold and warm air masses, and these contrasts are greater now.  And we are already seeing this with more hurricane and thunderstorm and tornado damage.  It will cause polar ice to melt and ocean levels to rise, threatening coastal areas, and we are seeing that too.  It will cause famine because the climate of farmland will be changed, and while this isn't too much of a problem at this point, it could well turn out to be the worst effect, causing widespread war and refugee migration and starvation and stuff like that.

Nearly every country on earth, and especially the developed ones, are pushing for some kind of global cooperation on this problem, a treaty, plans for decreasing the use of fossil fuels.  On the other hand we have the US Republican Party which is practically a wholly-owned subsidiary of the world oil industry.  It's no coincidence that our president, vice-president, secretary of state, and about 30 more top-level officials in the administration come out of the oil industry.

It -is- a human-caused problem and we -can- do something to fix it, to prevent much more trouble down the line. President Bush's own scientists tell him this but he isn't able to admit it publicly.  The next president, of either party, will openly believe that it's a problem and will do what he can to help.

If you are still neutral on the question, see Al Gore's movie 'An Inconvenient Truth'.  No matter what you think of Al Gore personally, he makes a very very good case in this film.

  14. Global warming is a really complex issue,  basically it's complex enough that unless you have a good deal of training in ecology and chemistry it will be really easy to get confused about all the facts.  So do yourself a favor and don't believe your dad's friend who heard that blah blah blah, or your friend who says that he read that blah blah blah.  Only listen to actual scientists and what they have to say.  oh and definitely don't listen to any politician or anyone with a background in politics.  If you want to read what actual scientist have to say about it check out the AAAS. It's one of the largest science communities in the world.  and they pretty much unanimously agree that it's very real.

But I think your question gets right to the heart of the issue, I mean let's be realistic we are in the stone age of automobile engines, it's been over 100 years since the engines we use today were invented. 100 YEARS!!!!!!!! whether global warming is real or not it doesn't change the fact that we should be using engines that are much more effecient, and finding much better sources of energy.

HEY JAMES W. EARLY- do you have a source? I hadn't heard that but I would love to read about it for myself.

  15. I think if we help stop global warming it wont actually STOP... we did far too much damage, and if we start now, all it will do is slow global warming down. but it will eventually come around.

    just my opinion

  16. I just checked on Goggle with my normal search pattern “nasa 1934 warmest” and over 200,000 hits came up. I looked at a dozen or so and most of them confirmed the NASA correction and that they were going to be announcing more corrections in the future as soon as they were sure they had corrected all the corrupted material. It is also true that NASA and some other agencies are trying very seriously to find out how or who corrupted so much data and if it was deliberate or accidental. I have been reading about this for several years now as people were searching for a very serious data variation with observed conditions.
