Question:

Go Back to Homeschooling?

I home schooled for 2 years, then I have gone to public school for a few years. I am seriously considering going back to home schooling for the next school year. Yes, I know all about "socialization" (complete myth, usually) and working on your own (I've done my research), mostly I am asking what YOU would do in my situation, and do you have any tips or good websites on homeschooling??

  1. Because of the school u go 2 i would consider homeschooling but then you might have 2 have ur friends from school email you everyday.4 good homeschool webs google it & try the first 4

  2. I think homeschooling would be great if you want to do it again.  I would have enjoyed being homeschooled as a teen.  There are many activities you can get involved in.  You may even want to get a part time job or apprenticeship.

  3. Homeschooling would offer many advantages, so if its what you want then go for it!

  4. Well, I don't know your situation. I don't know what your home life is like, I don't know what your public school life is like, I don't know what your aspirations are...

There are lots of good sites on homeschooling. Just start reading anyone that's supportive. Any homeschool association site will have lots of good stuff.

I'm assuming you are in high school. If you do this, do it for the long haul or check ahead of time with the school that they will accept your work for credit. A lot of high schools won't recognize your work so you end up having to redo things if you go back.

  5. Have you discussed it with your parents? Are you in touch with a homeschool support group?

My kids have flipped back and forth through the years with homeschooling and public school, and like homeschooling much better.

Ask yourself..so you work on your own well? How important is a diploma to you or will you take the GED?

A good compromise between the two is cyber school. You work on your own at home, but will get an actual diploma. Many states pay for these schools for you..it would depend on what state you are in.

  6. I would do what you think best for yourself...If you think you could further your education better at home, and your parents support your decision, then go for it...

Try this website, it might can help you..

  7. If you can, I would deffinetly go back to homeschooling. I was homeschooled all my life till I completed high school. I had a great experience with it. If you get involved with other homeschoolers and other groups the socialization thing is deffinetly a myth. I will have a good website once I'm done with it. Check it out!

  8. Why are you flipping back and forth? I can't make a decision for you obviously, but if I were you facing this decision, I couldn't decide. Why just for one year? What grade are you? What do your parents say? What are your long-term goals?

    See, too many variables.

As for kiwi, whatever. My kids have school games, dances, choir and drama classes. And also the chance to hang out with friends every day, at any time. Our town has over 1200 homeschoolers, so no matter where you go during the day there are kids. They have band  and orchestra and PE and sports. They can do fundraisers, and proms and even graduation ceremonies if we needed all that artificial bs to feel fulfilled in our lives.
