  1. no not relly but if your driving be careful

  2. I wouldn't say off strip is dangerous. It's just like any other big city in America. Don't go too far from where all the people are and you're fine. I have heard that the northern end of the strip around the Stratosphere isn't the best place to be after dark, simply because there isn't a whole lot down there, so it's not well populated or well lit. If you're contemplating on staying around downtown or Fremont street, you should be fine. Plenty of people on that side of town too. Just use common sense like you would in any other city after dark.

Edit: I agree with the above poster, people there can't drive at all! It was an adventure on the freeway everyday, that's for sure.

  3. It depends.  Fremont Street is very safe, so are Rio, Palms, and  the suburban casinos.   I wouldn't stay off Fremont Street downtown, or anywhere by the Sahara or Stratosphere by myself.  Common sense rules!!!!

  4. That is an overwhelming generalization.

    - For instance the Orleans Casino is a very nice off-strip hotel/casino on Tropicana Ave about a 1.5 miles from the intersection of Tropicana and Las Vegas Blvd. A little closer to the freeway is the Wild Wild West casino which is considerably sleazier since there is huge truck parking lot for overnight stays.

    - Terrible's casino is a low cost casino that is within walking distance of Hard Rock. People who want to spend time at Hard Rock, but can't afford the incredibly high priced rooms.

    - There are certainly some very luxurious hotel/casinos that are in all of the suburban neighborhoods.

    - There is probably the largest Motel 6 in the country near the airport (about 600 rooms). People with pets stay there because casinos won't permit dogs or cats. It is a very run-down place, much lower quality than you would normally see in a Motel 6.

  5. No. Granted, there are some neighborhoods that a person should not be walking thru alone at night, but any of the areas where the off-strip (Palms, Rio, The Hard Rock, etc.) resorts are are well-lit, well patrolled by police and hotel security, and are generally safe.

  6. I work in a Casino that's off of the strip, and i can a shore you. That it is very safe to stay there. Security have there eyes everywhere, and are right on top of things. And the area it's self is safe too.

  7. That is not true. There are lots of hotels and casinos that are not on the strip. We stayed at the Golden Nugget and there were no dangers that I saw, and the hotel did not warn me of any dangers, either. There were lots of people having a good time.

    Regards,

    Dan

  8. NO......... looks like someone was trying to scare u

  9. Ir is not like Atlantic City. It is just a generalization about off the strip. There is great distances between locations and a lot of nothing in between. Not to worry ... off the strip is just not the same as on the strip.

  10. The usual big city rules apply. Do not go out to your car alone at 3am. Do not socialize at some one that seems dangerous. etc.

But, most places are well monitored, and most places are not high crime. Down Town might be an exception. So would the small hotels  west of the Stratosphere or North Las Vegas.

  11. Now, as far as the hotels directly on the strip, the main ones, Mandalay Bay, Circus Circus, Luxor, Sahara, etc. They are good to stay at. What you dont want to do is stay at a little rinky-dink hotel/motel that is less than a mile from the strip, or on the strip. These hotels/motels can be dangerous and untrustworthy people can be there, too. Its easier to get "robbed," etc.. Another place to stay at with decent rates would be SamsTown Hotel and Casino, or any of the "station" casinos, such as Boulder Station, which is on the way to Samstown Hotel and Casino. I wouldnt suggest staying at Fremont Street either, because it can be bad. Stratosphere usually has decent rates, along with Sahara. My mom owns a condo about 3 miles south of the Sahara Hotel/Casino, in a gated, highly-secured community, but its rented out right now, so when we do go out there, (next, it will be for 2 weeks in Sept.) we are going to stay at the Flamingo Hotel/Casino. And, if you are looking at "winning" then the locals casinos you have a better chance than anywhere on the strip. Good Luck and I hope you enjoy yourself and have fun! Just stay in the tourist areas, and you will be good to go =)
