Going to Texas?

Question

Seeing as i'm most likely going to be moving there for school for a while I was wondering, how is the weather over there? Does it get really hot,cold ect what is there to expect weather wise?

I visited Dallas last summer and it was extremely hot and humid. The outdoors were literally hotter than the indoors.

Not really cold

I lived in El Paso for 3 years

Nights are cold in the winter months, but summers are way hott...

No snow...Very little rain....The most rain is in August, during monsoon season...I guess thats what it is called...Also very windy most of the times..........

Winter...I'd guess about 70s daytime and 35s nighttime

Summer....120 daytime...and 80s-90s nighttime...

Wear sunblock.....lots of it..........

As a native Texan I have to say that it is always either hot or humid or both. Winter lasts about two weeks and there are no other seasons around here, especially in the southern parts.  Yes it does get really hot, REALLY REALLY hot here! If possible don't move here during July - September....that's the worst time of the year.

It depends on where you are.  Central (Waco and the area) is warm, sometimes it gets cool...but not much below freezing.  Panhandel (Amarillo and surrounding) gets snow and cold.  Dry heat there in the summer...lots of wind.  East (Tyler area) is humid and hot in the summer and get cool,  but not cool enough for snow....well all of the time.  Sometimes, but not always.  South and south east (Houston, and into the valley) is hot.  The closer east, the more humid; the closer west, the more dry heat.  Dallas area gets cold, sometimes snow, not really humid, not really dry either.

I currently live in DFW Texas and have been here for 6 years now.  Summer is pretty hot for my taste - it runs from about late may to the end of September and will typically be mid 90's to low 100's.  Fall and spring are the best seasons here - beautiful 70 and 80 degree weather. :)  Spring does have it's share of thunderstorms, hail and a tornado here and there although I've yet to see one actually hit close to home.  Winter is pretty mild.  We usually get one to two snow storms a season and rarely get below freezing during the day although it is not uncommon to get a few degrees below freezing in the evening during the winter months.   All in all it's not that bad.  We love living here! :)

Depends on what part of Texas you'll be in.  For the most part, there's no spring or fall.  You go from winter to summer.  Winters aren't too bad unless you're in the panhandle, heavy coat still needed.  Summers are unbearable unless your on the coast and have the coastal breeze.  Right now there's actually a spring and it's quite humid and windy but in the 70's.  Summer expect upper 90's to low triple digits.  Winters are anywhere from 60's in the valley (south of San Antonio) to the negatives in the panhandle and anywhere in between.

We moved here to Texas around the Houston area. The weather is great. He humidity is really high, making it hotter than a well digger's a$$ but other than that we love it. Winters are nothing compared to Illinois where I'm from and Calgary Canada where my husband is from. Most flowers bloom all year. The grass in some spots turn brown and others it remains green. The weather being so nice I can get two planting seasons for my veggie garden. Our Koi pond only has to be 2 feet deep in order for the fish to survive. All in all I think you will like it just fine. And Welcome to Texas .

Texas is a really big state.....the weather will depend a lot on where you will be.

Well that varies a little bit depending on Where in TX you are going to be moving to. I live in Killeen TX and am moving to Conroe TX in a month. I like the weather here but it does tend to get a little hot here. We did not have much of a winter here but we did get a small tornado here last week. Hope this helped!

well i am born and raised in Texas....depends on the city, but if you come here to Houston, San Antonio, or Austin, its really just hot and hotter...lol, rarely get cold...in can be 50degrees one day and 90 the next....seriously...Houston is the rainiest...up north they actually have winters....like in Dallas and or the panhandle...im in school in San Antonio, but from Houston....but its very humid here...hopes this helps

Haha I went to Texas once but only to stay overnight (because of flights).

Apperantely it is really weird weather over there. It can get cold one day then hot the next. And there are quite a few tornadoes roaming around too.

in texas there are two seasons. winter and summer. winter is tempermental and never snows. although it really depends on the parts of texas your in. but im in central tx and it sucks like crazy. and the summers get REALLY REALLY HOT. i always escape. and humidity makes it worse, so it feels hotter than it is. right now its spring, kinda, or the few days it is. and its been really weird. like random storms and hot hot weather and then coldish.

highest and lowest i have been in: 28F and 114F
