Going to get into accounting?

Question

I'm going to be going college to learn accounting just wanted to know if anyone has been to college to study this and enjoyed it. is it a hard course to do. just wanted to know a bit More about it.

I started a degree in it and quit after 2 years (although I wanted to quit after about 2 months). I didn't really attend the course in my second year but I still passed the exams so it couldn't have been that hard.  I never really understood what was going on though because I found it so hard to concentrate on something I hated so much!  All the people I went to uni with are now earning loads of money as accountants but most of them don't actually like their jobs.  If you like accountancy then go for it, it just wasn't for me, I'd rather earn less money doing a job I like than loads of money doing a job I hated for the next 40 years.

Have you ever done any work in accounting?? And what position/department would you aim for after qualifying?

I work in accounts myself and am due to start an AAT in Sept but through my own work experience I have decided that I would only work in purchase ledger department or credit control. Financial controller or similar positions are extremely boring.

Accounts is boring yes I wont lie to you but decent money can be earned.

  If you do well in computers you will learn everything fine.  Microsoft Excel helped me get my job as secretary at an oil and gas business.  I would save the book you use in case you get a different job & need to refresh yourself.

my dads an accountant, he earnss a  lott.

but it's not a hard course, ou just have to be good with numbers,

once you pass go work for a very big comapnyy like BP

or anything like that

and don't forget you get bonus salaries if you do it fast.

it's well worth doing the whole course aswell.
