Golden Gloves - Whats the deal?

ok so i love to box but I've never been in the ring or an actual boxing gym... I usually backyard or in someone's basement. I know about golden gloves, but i hear they don't even let you spare until you have trained on the bags and such for a year. Anybody know how they work the system at golden gloves???

golden gloves is a amateur tournament of city, state, region, and national proportions. in order to fight in the golden gloves at any level you need to be registered with USA boxing, have a registered trainer, and belong to a registered gym. There is no set amount of time before you fight you just need a trainer who sees that you are ready to fight. to find out more information go to usaboxing.org, contact the representative that is closest to where you live, ask him/her about the papers you need to sign and what you need to register, and also about a good gym in your area. good luck
