Good Backpacking pistol

Last time out backpacking I ran into a bear so I'm thinking of carrying a pistol. I have heard that I should carry a .44 Magnum but it's pretty heavy. Is there something lighter that will stop a bear?

  1. nope go with a .44 or a .454 they are about as SMALL as you can get and effectivly take down a bear

  2. Be prepared and well armed purchase a .475 Wildey semi-auto pistol if you can afford it.* Go here to see it.*>>> wildey.com.....  I have two (2*) of them.*

  3. .357 will work, .45 also; there are some light compact pistols out there in these calibers.  you could also probably get by with a .40 caliber
