Trying to find a good golf ball. Right now i am hitting a Pro V and my driver just has to much back spin and its all carry. And My irons aren't really spinning and my wedges aren't spinning to much. I play college golf and just trying to figure out what ball i should use. Averaging a 76 and shot a low 70 this year. So any suggestions will help

  1. it all depends on how much wrist u use, dont blame the balls just casue u suck

  2. its the snap in your wrist that you get the spin...

  3. If you are using the pro v1, you might think about trying the prov 1X.  Low driver spin, but still has feel around the green.  One poster mentioned the Bridgestone B330-S, but it is comparable to the Pro V 1 that you are playing.  Try the B-330 instead.  Once again,..less spin.  Definately don't play the Nike One platinum.  Golf magazine's recent testing had the Platinum as the ball with the most RPMs in their robotic testing.

  4. If you aren't getting too much spin with your irons, then you might want to look at your approach to the ball with the driver. I don't know how high you tee the ball up, but, a fairly low tee will greatly increase your back-spin and a high tee will reduce backspin. The reason is, you will have a steeper approach to the ball, hitting on the down stroke (like an iron) to the low tee and a high tee ball is caught on a more up swing, thus launching the ball higher and with less back-spin. More distance. But, a back-spinning ball goes MUCH straighter, and the alternative to what you are doing now will be a loss of accuracy. It just depends on your fundamentals, some folks can hit it long and straight.

  5. Nike

  6. If you cant spin a ProV1 then i dont know what to tell you.  For $15 a dozen ive played the Nike Super soft and they perform pretty well.  BTW which proV do you use?  The ProV1 or V1x....the V1x is made more for driving distance and it has good feel and spin with the irons.  The V1 is more of just a super feel ball, very soft.

  7. Play the e5+ or e6+ made by Bridgestone. They have more expensive balls but one of the two will give you exactly what you need and they only cost $25/doz. I couldn't believe it when I played the e6+ for the first time and my drives actually rolled out  and my sand shots stuck like velcro. Give them a try.

  8. Try the Bridgestone 330-s, do not try the e5 or e6 if feel is important to your game.

  9. Play "Findzees". Any player worth his salt can hit any ball, with any club from any position and get similiar results. If you hit the iron properly, ball then turf, you can spin most everything except a rock. The long irons are not meant to spin for you are looking for distance. The middle irons ( 6, 7, 8 and 9 ) usually will land softly with limited roll unless the greens are hard and baked. The spinner clubs are the wedges which, if you hit the proper shot you do not need to spin .
