Question:

Good Neighborhoods in Minneapolis Area

I might move to Minneapolis soon. What neighborhoods are good for living and renting an apartment? I want to be able to walk around, be near shops but also a park or woods. I like good architecture, especially old buildings. I don't want a heavy party area, but also no bedroom communities.

  1. I'm looking at moving to Mpls and one of my friends lives near Loring Park.  She loves it!  She's close to the Skyway and Light Rail, can walk to most everything she needs to, and isn't far from the Sculpture Garden if she wants to get away from the city feel for a bit.

You'll love it there!  It's one of my favorite cities to visit.

  2. Uptown or Downtown

  3. You're gonna get parks and woods wherever you go in the Cities, and there are tons of awesome neighborhoods. A few favorites--

    SEWARD

    Powderhorn

    Loring Park

    Longfellow

and if you can deal with the occasional group of loud toga-wearing college students, go for any neighborhood in the University area. Marcy Holmes, Como, Cedar Riverside, Prospect Park, etc.

(all of these neighborhoods have houses that are 150+ years old.)

    Best of luck!
