Question:

Good starting compound bow?

I'm looking to get into archery some - mostly target shooting, but might hunt a few times also. Suggestions on some neccessities that I should be looking at?

The store I went to the other day pitched a package at me that included bow, personal fitting, quiver, draw trigger (I don't know the technical name for this) and a few starter aluminum arrows for $549. While I can't ask if this is fair without the model numbers, is this a typical initial cost? What should I be expecting to spend?

Any input would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks!

  1. A good starter bow would fit you and your abilities.

(draw trigger)= release.  Diamond Archery would be my first choice. It all depends on what you want to spend. The cost you mentioned sounds about right. Have you looked at used bows?

Make sure you get what fits you and is comfortable and not just what the salesman wants to sell you. You could also do a search on the web "compound bow reviews" to get a little better understanding.
