Good things about 2 stroke motorbikes?

what are good things about 2 strokes that are better than 4 strokes to make ur oldies think agen. thanx

More poke. Simpler to work on. Easy to tune up.

Oh, and they have a wonderful aromatic smell once fully up to cooking temperature.

Then again, I wouldn't say that they are necessarily any better than a 4 stroke. You get less mileage from a tank of gas, the powerband tends to be narrow and very steep, they are loud and much more polluting unless they have a fancy-pants ECU and fuel injection.

It's horses for courses, as we say here in the good ol' U of K. I wouldn't want to tour on a stroker, but then I would miss the explosive acceleration that I might want when out on the twisties.

Two strokes are still cool but unfortunately they are not the top dog anymore.  Four stroke technology has surpassed two stroke simplicity.  My KX500 was 225 lbs and somewhere around 50 hp, it would blind you at full acceleration.  My 510 Husky comes from the factory with like 54 hp, it weighs around 250 (battery, lights, and electric starter) with the modern add ons.  Take away the add ons and it's dangerously close in weight to that old two stroke.  I would say I am somewhat of an experienced critic here since I had a few years in the saddle of the bean burner, but my 510 will stomp that 500 any day of the week and it will out handle it by leaps and bounds straight out of the crate.  Out of fairness here, my 500 had the typical things added, pipe, reed valve, jetted.  Likewise the Husky has a muffler added (be it only a stock YZ450 muffler), Scary Fast power now, and jetted.  I cant really estimate the hp now but I assure you it's way more than it was when I brought it home.  From what I hear the TE250's are categorically the same story.  I would say that after watching the last few years of Supercross, Motocross, outdoor series and the Baja races there is not a whole lot you can say is better about a two stroke anymore.  I would however love to own a 700 intimidator, that is just plain psycho straight up.

Here's a few

* much better accelaration

* much easier to jump/motorcross

*nice and light to throw around the trails

* powerband for jumping

* powerband gives you an extra edge in trail riding

*much easier to pop wheelie/mono

* easier to start than four strokes ( 4strk require more kickin)

*less engine parts less to go wrong (lighter in weight)

Have fun if your getting a 2 stroke....... by the way they sound way cooler than four stroke from a long distance

2 stroke engines produce more power, because the get rid of the emissions produced by combustion faster than a 4 stroke [in theory];  and parts are cheaper.

Well there isn't much, and some of the reasons given here are incorrect.

They are a little easier to work on

They are a little bit lighter than a 4 stroke

They are easier to start when hot

They are not cheaper to work on

They are cheaper to rebuild, but have to be rebuilt twice as often as a 4 stroke so that's a wash

The do not accelerate faster than a 4 stroke that runs in their same class (i.e. a 125 2 stroke accelerates faster than a 125 4 stroke but slower than a 250 4 stroke which is what they race against

They do not jump better for racing, but are better for FMX

All bikes have a powerband, not just 2 strokes

They are not better in the woods for the average rider, they are worse

But the one big thing they are not good at anymore is winning races
