Ok I have( or rather my Dad has) a Chevy Silverado z71 truck...

what are some good tire recommendations...he does mainly road and highway driving, but in the winter, we like to go ice fishing and so forth.....

I saw a pretty good looking set of tires on a truck the other day...they looked pretty heavy duty....

they were "BF goodrich All Terrrain" tires...

Any other suggestions???

  1. Those BF Goodrich tires are good. They are rated for mountain snow and are backed by the U.S. Department of Forestry. Only the All Terrain T/A and a tire made by Good Year are the only ones with that qualification.

  2. I am currently running a set of BFGoodrich All Terrains (AT/KO) on my truck. Good tires, not loud on the road, good handling manners, nice wet traction, do quite well in the snow. But they are not my first pick...

My last set were General Grabber ATs, also an all terrain tire. The major difference for the size that I'm running (265-75R16) is that the General's had a higher load rating so more plys. And they are drilled for studs if you wish to run them in the winter. Plus, the General's are ~$30 cheaper per tire.

The ONLY reason I'm running BFGs right now is that I was hurting bad for a set of tires in late Oct/early Nov and the snow was starting to fly. General Tire had discontinued the AT tire for the new Grabber AT2 (looks friggin identical in my opinion) and the d**n things were on back order with no definate date of arrival.

    #1 General Grabber AT2

    #2 BFGoodrich All-Terrains

#3 You kidding me, there is no other :)

  3. Good rich tires are pretty good but for the winter get ones that are studded to get better traction on icy, snowy and dirt roads
