I have 2 3.5ton units that are exactly 2years 3months old both units have a evap core leak on the bottom corner were they sit on the pan in the evap case. Is there any knowen issues with this. possible installation error? also found out the unit numbers are only 30 serial numbers apart, maybe a possible bad run on the cores?

any info would be great and thanks

  1. I've replaced defective, leaking evaporator coils on every make.Carrier,Trane,Janitrol,Ruud,America... Standard,Goodman,etc...I think all makes just have a run of bad coils sometimes in the assembly.Goodman used to have a bad name 15 or 20 yrs ago for defects like that but have since improved.I know of Goodman units that I installed in 95 that are still running trouble free.Coil should still be in warranty. You have just had a run of bad luck.

I wonder though ,who condemned the evaporator coils ?

10-4 Hope both the coils and labor are warrantied.

  2. if you had it installed professionally call your installer

as for a install error could be but most likely just on of those things out of the hundred thousand units that ran off that line in that year a few are going to have something wrong
