Grainy Blue Ray disks on PS3?

I recently purcased a Olevia HDTV and when i watch blue ray movies on my PS3 the picture quality looks grainy and i can see tons of little dots when their is a bright seen in the movie. I have Monster HDMI cables so i know thats not the problem. Someone help please.

what is the resoultion of the tv? only series 2&7 olevia tvs are 1080p. you may have a scaling problem. outputting 1080p to a 720p display that can't properly do the job. try different output res on the ps3 and see if that helps.

Try other movies because the film grain effect is in HD too, so it's super sharp and crisp. Watching movies without the grain effect will probably be more enjoyable.

It's possible you have a technical issue ... but much more likely you are a victim of advertizing. You know the stuff that screamed that BLU-RAY HAS 6X THE RESOLUTION OF DVD ... etc.

Garbage. First of all the increase is 2.25X not 6x (1080/480=2.25). And even then while some Blu-ray movies give startlingly clear pictures and great sound, all too frequently the mastering was poor, the original movie was filmed on poor film stock or the director intentionally filmed with unrealistic (but artsy) colours or intentional grain.

The result is that while Blu-ray will always provide some improvement relative to DVD the overall result is often inferior to what many might expect from a much more expensive disk format and on (to most people) a much more expensive player.

I suspect you issues are movie related not equipment. Try an animated movie like Cars (of course the DVD looks great too).

This is called film grain and is typically intended. Sometimes it can even be added to a movie to capture a certain style. "300" is the most notable case of this I can think of on blu-ray.

Blu-ray's higher resolution means artifacts such as film grain are easier to see.

Nothing is wrong with your setup.
