Is it normal to have a slight grainy effect in the dark or when looking at a blank colored wall?

  2. Grainy vision is quite common and often does not have a cause.

    One possibility is Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder (HPPD), which is a disorder characterized by a continual presence of visual disturbances that are reminiscent of those generated by the ingestion of hallucinogenic substances. If you have not used any hallucinogens, this is not relevant to you. You may visit an ophthalmologist and tell him/her about your grainy vision but more often than not they wouldn't find anything. It is something that a lot of people are used to live with.
