Granite back spalsh removal?

I installed a granite back splash and counter top in my bathroom. I used Liquid Nails to adhere the back splash to the wall (dry wall). After the installation (weeks later) I decided to change the vanity. I went to the Liquid Nails web site and they suggested heat to remove the back splash. Obviously, this probably would not work out. My guess is I can pry it off the wall (gently) and repair the wall. Is this the best way to do this? Any help is greatly appreciated.

squirt some water to make the wallboard paper mushy behind it it'll just fall off when you pull

That's probably your best alternative. Basically, what will happen is that the glue will hold onto the paint and peel it up. Or, if it's glued directly onto the wallboard, it will peel off the cardboard. You'll then have to use a scraper (one of those razor blade things) to scrape the cured glue off of the granite.

Keep in mind, though, that granite - especially a thin strip like a backsplash - can be very brittle and break easily when you're prying it off. So, while you will be able to remove the entire backsplash, you may end up having to replace the granite.

WELL you are in a bit of a fix with this one and I have 30 years experience, and have used 15 minuets contemplation and nothing so far will give it another 15 and see. OK i am back. First never use liquid nail unless it is to be completely permanent, the reason is it completely marries the two  materials to death do us part, stronger than bolts, nails,screws, ect and you will not separate materials like it was caulking, but it is what it is, one of life's learning lessons. So I would for get the back splash and order another one or use tile, if they still have a cut off from that slab it wont cost much.  But if you must have it  here is what I would do. Cut the wallboard  out  from the  top of the splash  to 12 inches above, this gives you room to fit a flat chisel in the middle of the board and hammer down at studs as this will break the connections to wall  ( remember there may be water pipes around)  then use a wide chisel and drive down in the middle of thickness of board, you are simply  making wallboard very thin behind back splash, then use breaker bars against studs to gently pry off splash. Now take water and soak  rest of board off then use right cutting agent to soften LQ and remove. About 1 , 1 1/2 hours work. Hope this helps. you may contact me via yahoo if you hake further ? JERRY
