Is it possible for a dell dimension E510 to support an Nvidia Geforce 8800 card. And since i have a geforce 7600, is it possible for me to use 2 graphics cards on my computer, a 7600 and an 8800?

  1. You cannot go SLI(Two combined graphics cards) With that system, However if you upgrade your Power supply you would be able to handle a 8800. Standard E510's have a 305 Watt PSU. You need at least a Minimum of 400W PSU with minimum of 26A on the +12V rail. Make sure you find one that has the PCI-E 6-pin Connector, Without it you can't power your card.

If I were you I would get a 700+ Watt PSU. The extra power is nice.

    Hope I helped you.

EDIT: All you guys forgot about the Power Supply, He wouldn't be able to run a thing without upgrading it.

  2. yes because your computer supports PCI-Express 2.0 just put the card into the slot that looks like the blue one on this diagram

on your computer. but you can not have two "Different cards" and they must have SLI Compatibility. which i think the 8800 has so if you buy another 8800 then yes you can

  3. No, an E510 only has a lone PCI-E slot, meaning you can only install one graphics accelerator board at a time. an 8800-series board will work if you have enough clean power. The stock supply certainly won't, but your power supply should be a standard ATX unit, thankfully. Just don't spend too much upgrading this obsolete PC; put your cash towards a full replacement.

OCZ 500 watt. Just an FSP Epsilon chassis, it's a bit ripple-prone at high loads, but otherwise very good for the money.

  4. no you can only have one grfx card in your computer however if you get a dual gpu card such as the 9800GX2 or the 4870X2 you could have 2 but your case cant handle the heat produced by the card look at a Nvidia 8600,8800GT,9600,9800; ATI 3850,3850X2,3870,3870X2, 4850,4870. The dual GPU may fit in your computer but a dell dimension doesn't have the air flow for the card so you could cook on your PC which isn't good.

note guy below me check the power consumption on the cards his power supply can handle them. the Nvidia 8000-9000 yes the 3000-4000 yes the dual gpu cards no.
