Great place to go on vacay...?

I need some ideas, I want to take a vacation early next April with my best friend. We want to go somewhere with a beach...tropical-ish but not necessarily passport required, somewhere safe for two girls in their mid 20's, maybe some night life but not necessarily a raging social scene. Basically it will be us wanting to relax, if we can shop, go to a spa, eat some good food, drink some that would be great. OH, and if poss, keep the total cost of hotel and airfare under 2K. Any suggestions?
