Health benefits of white tea? Allthough i know the health benefits of green tea, but is there any more health benefits if you use bigelow novus (http://www.bigelowtea.com/shop/details.cfm?si=1&sc=31&pi=02970) teas?

That goes for both white and green. What is the difference between those novus teas and regular teas?

Thanks!

  1. White tea is a variety of tea that is harvested early in the spring, when the leaves are very young. The antioxidants (mainly epogallocatechin gallate, EGCG) are the same as in green tea, but with up to three times the concentration.

The reason for that is mainly that the leaves are harvested so early that the leaves are fully stocked up on the antioxidants they need to protect themselves against sunlight. Another reason is that white tea is less processed even than the lightly processed green tea. The less processing, the more of the antioxidants the tea leaves retain.

The health benefits are basically the same as for green tea. These are some of the main health benefits associated with white and green teas:

    - Reduced risk of heart disease and high cholesterol

    - Reduced probability of being diagnosed with cancer

    - A stronger immune system

    - Lower risk of developing diabetes

    - May slow the aging porcess by protecting the cells against free radicals.

In most studies, people had to drink four or more cups of green tea every day to reap the best benefits. Since white tea contains more of the antioxidants, fewer cups are required.

  2. White tea is green tea. It is just harvested when it is much younger and suposedly with a higher concentration of antioxidants.

They have many antioxidants, more than any other tea out there. The help curb the appitite and increase energy levels. There is even claims of them helping out with the digestion and processing foods. It also has enough caffeine for the energy increase but at 30 mg has much less than any other caffeinated drink. Then there is the benefits it has for the heart too.
