Green card holder working oversees?

Im a green card holder living in the US for 15 years. My job is sending me oversees for 2 years, During the 2 years can I travel back to the US every 4 months without affecting my residency.

  1. It is better for you to apply for Advanced Parole.

    For non-citizens, you need permission to return to the United States after traveling abroad. This permission is granted through a travel document. Travel documents are also given to people who want to travel, but cannot get a passport from their country of nationality.   2. No, that isn't going to help anything.  BEFORE you leave (at least 3 months before you leave) file FORM I-131.  This will permit you to be gone for up to 2 years... and not one day longer.

    You are REQUIRED to file a 1040 with the IRS every year by April 15th, just like the rest of us.  Your world-wide income will be taxed although there are certain deductions and exclusions.
