  1. There is no bad time to drink green tea. Even though it is good for us you still want to limit it becasu of the caffeine. Green tea has less caffeine than any other caffeinated drink with only 30 mg per serving. However you do not want to take in more than 300 mg of caffeine in a day or other health related issues start to arise.

You will want to have at least 2 servings a day for it to have much of an affect on you. But I would suggest having about 4 to 6 a day. I would not recommend having more than 8 in any one day though.

It is great to have green tea with meals becuse it also helps your digestive process. Having some before is also beneficial as the sugar and caffeine in it can kick start your system and motabolism and help you digest even better.

  2. I'm not so sure that green tea speeds your metabolism but it does contain high amounts of antioxidants that help in the aging process. Most Chinese drink tea all day long at meals and after.

  3. The caffeine in green tea does speed up the metabolism, but only by the tiniest fraction.

To put it in context, if you drink four cups of green tea a day, and change nothing else about your eating habits, you will lose 5-8 pounds in a whole year.

The only significant weight loss effect any tea has is if you replace other, sugared drinks with tea. Tea contains no calories, and if you drink a lot of soda or lattes, you will see an effect from switching to tea (without sugar or milk, of course).

But green tea is good for many other reasons, so drinking at least four cups every day is a good idea, even though it may not help you lose much weight.
