  1. Ochen jhal (Я огорченн)!  If you are referring to a US immigration "green card", then people are teasing you; there is no such thing as a "grey card".



    Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) status, i.e., having a green card, allows persons who hold this status to live and work in the US (and enlist in the US military). There are four basic ways to achieve LPR status: Be petitioned for by an eligible family member (a best friend does not count); having education, skills, or talents which are in demand in the US and which qualify in one of the employment-based or profession-related preferences; having refugee or asylum status based on a well-founded fear of persecution if one returns to the home country; and by a special act of Congress.
