Grocery shopping?

I have been doing 2 weeks worth of grocery shopping for 1 child and 3 adults plus 2 cats and a dog for between $100 and $140 for the next few weeks there are going to be 2 more adults with us. Is there a way I can feed everyone without the bill going up? We get paid bi-weekly which is why we do our shopping for 2 weeks in one shot

  1. sure just by cheaper food that taste good look in a recipe book

  2. There are ways that you can stretch your food to cover more people. A very simple, cheap and filling meal is to brown a pound of hamburger with some onions and bell pepper. Once the meat has browned, add 3 cups of cooked white rice (we use the minute rice cause it is fast) and a 12 oz. can of tomato paste. Stir it together and it is ready to serve. Feeds quite a few for very little.

Another trick that we use to save money is to create a calander of what foods we are going to eat during the month (although you can do however long you want). From the calender, we make a grocery list and only buy what we need to make dinner for the month. It cuts down on wandering the store buying what you see that you want at the moment. You could also try shopping at walmart or target because there food is sometimes cheaper than at the grocery store and they accept coupons.

If you are creative you can come up with meals that feed more people that don't cost more money.

  3. You can clip coupons from the sunday newspaper. there are a lot of bulletin boards online for trading the ones you won't use for more of the ones you can use. Buy stuff like shampoo & dish soap in bulk once a month. Switch the animals to generic food.

  4. Tell the new adults to pitch in for groceries.

  5. its so hard to shop on a budget... My advice to you is while having the extra people with you make meals you can stretch like spaghetti,, great for leftovers,, also make up some potato salad and pasta salads, they are cheep to make and can last a couple days, make a roast and use the leftovers to make a stew or sandwiches with the meat,, it would also be good to cook a turkey ahead of time for turkey sandwiches,,, everyone love them,,,good Luck hope I helped.

  6. Yes you should be able to make meals like spaghetti, soups, chili, stew, tacos, chicken and dumplings, tuna casserole all the meals that make a pot full anyway. Also for breakfast you can crumble sausage in gravy and have biscuits and eggs instead of a lot of sausage patties. Cinnamon oatmeal and toast is a healthy and economical breakfast too. Sounds like you are good at this already.
