We moved into a rental property in december last year and there was already a pumpkin plant grwoing. We got some really yummy pumpkins off it so we'd love the same this time round. We are unsure whether we need to replant though or whether it will just grow again. If we need to replant...when should we do it? We are in AUs

  1. you have to replant , umpkins are annuals meaning the have to be replanted and planting depends on when your spring begins, give them the longest growing season, with plenty of water

  2. Yes you need to replant so save some seeds from a fully ripe pumpkin if you can't buy the same variety in a seed packet. In the USA pumpkins are most often grown for Halloween decorations so planting them has to be carefully timed. If you are just growing them for food then any time after the last frost is fine. Most pumpkins take 100 to 120 days after planting to reach harvest so keep that in mind.

  3. Pumpkin is an annual & you'll need to get a new one. Dig a round patch( about 1 metre/yard wide) & plant three or four seeds in it. Fertilise well add old cow or sheep manure & mulch well & you should get a good crop.

Pumpkins require lots of water, so don't skimp on it!

  4. Pumpkins, summer and winter squashes are annual plants.  You must start fresh each growing season.

Since pumpkins are an autumn harvest, check the maturity date on the seed packet, and plant when that maturity time will occur around the beginning of your autumn.

  5. you will need to replant

plant the seed outdoors after the last frost
