  1. its a district of Sao Paulo. But taking into account Sao Paulo has 23 million inhabitants, its like a different city. Plus its about 2 hours drive to the centre of Sao Paulo

  2. It is not 2 hours or 60Km from downtown SP.  It is where the airport is located and is about 20KM and 20 minutes with no traffic, maybe 45-50 minutes from downtown with traffic 1 hour to 1:15 to Paulista and Itaim.

It is it's own city in Greater Sao Paulo in Sao Paulo state.

  3. Guarulhos is a city in São Paulo state, for which São Paulo the city is the capital (of the state).

It´s within whats called the GREATER São Paulo area, due to the ever growing of the city of São Paulo, many cities near by became one huge metropolis, but they have separate majors etc...

Its where the International airport is.

One hour from downtown Sao Paulo.

    Its a very ugly city.

There are some good hotels, mostly due to the airport, but it´s tacky, urban development is terrible, it´s poor... not a nice place at all.

  4. Its a neighbourhood, known as a municipality. Strictly speaking its not part of Sao Paulo city but part of whats called greater Sao Paulo which includes municipalities like Guarulhos which are around the city.  The International airport is in Guarulhos so if you check your bags to Sao Paulo the tag will say GRU. As a neighbourhood it isnt anything special. Theres nothing for the tourist. Its quite a distance from the city of Sao Paulo. Maybe 60 kms from the city center.
