Guideline for solids?

So I started my son on solids. My son is 6 months and for the past say 3 weeks he eats rice cereal and jarred veggies for dinner and formula the rest of the time. My question is, as I gradually introduce another solid feeding time such as say lunch. when do I tap out. How many times a day should babies get rice cereal and how many times a day should they get jarred foods? Also at what ages should they get how many feedings? I need a guidline as to when and by how much to increase.

  1. There are no set guidelines.  Take your cues from your baby.

  2. I found this quite useful,

babies don't need rice cereal. It is just often a recommeded first as it is quite gentle on their tummies. As to how many feedings it really does depend on ur bubs. My daughter is 6 and a half months as is having 3 "solids" meals a day. You should on;y give solids following a milk feed as at this age, the milk is much more important for their growth and development. The solids are more for experiencing taste and texture than nutrition and you don't want the solids taking the place of the milk
