ok why does my guinea pig purr sometimes when i pet her in a certain way?? why is she purring?? tell me tips on guinea pigs and lots of tips on breeding them

Guinea pigs make a lot of noises. My guinea pigs squeak when they're happy, but make a 'chirrup' sound when they're angry. A google search for "guinea pig sounds" will help you identify what your guinea pigs are feeling.

Breeding guinea pigs takes a LOT of time, effort, space, and money. Make sure to carefully consider it before attempting. Guinea pigs need a lot of space (at least 10.5 square feet for 2, and increasing in size with # of piggies). They will need a lot of vet care, and pregnant guinea pigs need special care. Also, you will need a lot of cages. Obviously, females and males need to be kept separate until they are ready to mate. Talk to a reputable vet that has experience with guinea pigs before you start breeding. Good luck!

A good pet care book should be able to tell you all.

Basically;

G P lives 6-7 years or maybe 10 years

Social and reproduce fast, sexually mature by 3 months old

Usually older mature has delivery problems.

Need clean environment lest skin infections

Long hair species are much harder to take care.

Need to trim their nails every 2mths or they curled up and causes movement problem.

change their drinking water regularly.

Purring means she is happy. Just like a cat. Guinea pigs communicate with ALOT of different sounds.

that purring noise your referring to is usually from the male (if I remmeber right) and he does this as a courting to a female that is in heat.

As far as breeding - I suggest you do some research,and get a good book

they realy arent hard to breed and the babies are so much fun

also check with your local pet store and talk to them because they might have an interest in buying any babies you do have

when I was younger I bred guinea pigs,and sold them to the local pet store in exchange for food and bedding or even another giunea pig

it was a lot of fun
