  1. Revolvers tend to be heavy.  Check out the Beretta Model 84.  Small, light, plenty of power, smooth action, accurate.  Excellent automatic.  Check the Beretta site.  http://www.berettausa.com/product/produc...

Ruger makes excellent firearms.  They have a new .380 Auto out.  Check here.  http://www.ruger-firearms.com/LCP/Specif...

  2. a small one like a .22

  3. Walther .22, good for target practice. & If she needs to kill an intruder, she can shoot the intruder without killing the nieghbors.

    I personally have 380.

If you have A home defense concern buy a Slide shotgun as well. that *sheck sheck* is known around the world.

  4. Maybe a glock 17 or 19?  Or a small Smith & Wesson revolver?

  5. She will have a better idea of what, if any, handgun she is interested in after she completes her upcoming course.  Most instructors will assist with her choices to have a handgun, and which one.  It is her personal choice, let her tell you what she wants.

  6. pearl handle snub nose .38.

  7. Lady Wesson .22 -- I would not want my wife to try and figure out how to fire a semi-auto in the heat of combatting an intruder.  Glocks are awesome, because they don't have all the safety garbage, but still more complicated than a revolver.  The Lady Wesson .22 is nice because it is so small, and is VERY point-and-shoot friendly.

However, if you INSIST on giving her a semi-auto, a Glock is the ONLY reasonable choice.  Steer clear of any shotguns or rifles.

  8. I think it really depends on the woman.

One of my grandmothers could easily handle a 12 gauge with no problem, the other could barely handle a 6 shot .22 pistol.  Just due to the differences in their bodies and overall size.

Pick the right size weapon for your wife, don't worry so much about knockdown power.

  9. I like glocks too, it depends what it's for. If it's for home defense I have a Mossburg 12 gauge, I'm not very big (female/27) but I find them easy to handle and they don't have a lot of kick back.

I use to have a 357 but it was too much for me.

Otherwise I think something small like a .22 if it's just to go target shooting with.

  10. 20-Gauge Shotgun  (youth model)

easy to handle - very deadly.

    hand gun

    .38 caliber snub nose

  11. revolvers are better for women, especially if they are unfamiliar with firearms. Semi-autos are more likely to malfunction with someone who has a weaker grip. Revolvers are more reliable and will make a good point and shoot defensive weapon. They don't kick as hard and she will be able to handle it better with a larger caliber. Get her a nice 38. Id suggest a 6 in barrel for point and shoot accuracy.

  12. What best fits her hand and allows her to hit the target.  A simple to use handgun like a Glock or small framed revolver in 9MM or .38 is a good choice.  Take her to a range that offers instruction and has an assortment of guns for her to try.

  13. I'd suggest a 5 shot 38 with a 2 inch barrel... Smith or Colt.

Easy to shoot, not much kick.

I taught my wife with one, and she's carrying it everyday.

  14. Take her to an indoor range after she has taken her class. Many of these places rent guns for use on property. Let her try out several types of guns, caliber, size etc. to see what she is comfortable with. It is also important to think about how it will be carried. Purse? Holster? etc. All of these things come into play when selecting a gun. A woman's hand tends to be smaller than a mans. Trying the guns in advance of purchase should make it easier for her to select.
