Guys sims 2 help??????????????????

Question

ok when i download anything for sims 2 i open it and then wen i do the thing comes up and it like

to open the file,the windows has to know what program u have to use to open it,windows can go on-line to look it up automatically or you can manually select from a list of program that are installed on ur computer.

what should i doo???

You're not supposed to open it. Because it's a zipped file, you have to unzip it, not open it. So don't do either of the things it's asking. Just cancel that.

What you have to do is download a program that unzips files, that is if you don't have on already. A lot of people go for winzip or winrar, I have 7-zip though. Here's the link to download 7-zip if you want it (it's free btw)

And then after you download that, what you do is go to the location where you saved the download. (should be found it "EA Games" > "The Sims 2" > "Downloads") Then you have to right click on the file, then you have to hover over the name of your unzipping software. (eg: mine says 7-zip) Then click on the selection "extract here".

Then unless it needs a mesh to be downloaded separately or something, the new item should work in your game.

EDIT (ADDITIONAL INFORMATION)

If your download does need a mesh, all you have to do is go back to the page where you downloaded the item. Underneath or right above on that page it should say whether it needs a mesh to be downloaded separately. And if it does need a mesh, it should provide a link to where you can find it. And then you just download and unzip it the same way you downloaded the other file.
