what is the big deal with a guy who likes to wear a skirt every now and then. I am not a crossdresser i am just a normal heard working guy. I normally wear pants cause i hate how shorts are made and the way they feel so one day i went out and got my a skirt and feel in love with the comfort of wearing one. To me it does not make me less of a man at all. I am just getting back to the way it use to be before the US was settled when in was normal for a guy to wear a skirt style bottom. whats your take on this subject anyone?

  1. good suggestion  I think I will go get me one  how do you know what size to buy ?

  2. if i travel north about 70 miles i see lots of men wearing skirts they have been doing it for yrs i think they are called scots!. if you want to wear a skirt go ahead and if you feel uncomfortable come to europe nobody will bat an eye we are a lot more open minded on fashion and style than most americans ....h**l even david beckham wore a skirt in england!

  3. i guess the big deal is that women have been wearing it for so long that they dominate the clothing, but then women started wearing pants, which is something the men dominated first. so why can't it be the same for men with skirts? there is no law that says men can't wear them. i think people should dress they way they want without getting stares and remarks. if something is comfortable, wear it.

  4. I'd love to bring back tunics and togas for men.  I don't foresee it becoming popular anytime soon, though.  If you want to be accepted in public, you need to go with a kilt and full matching attire.

Watch "Gladiator" or "300" sometime.  I'd dare anyone to walk up to one of those guys and call him "feminine."

  5. Well, no one in their right mind would suggest that a Scotsman's kilt was a skirt, but the way it hangs around the legs is comparable.  It seems to me that, this being the case, skirts should not be a problem.

Edit to add this link: http://www.thinkgeek.com/apparel/hoodies... and to add a note from my Scottish fiancé: "You don't need to wear full highland dress in order to wear a kilt, these days lots of guys wear casual kilts with t-shirts... at least they do in Scotland"

  6. I fully support your mission to challenge social convention and liberate all men from the social convention that restrict the freedom in our choice of clothes.

Women couldn't wear pants until they challenged social convention and started wearing pants.  At first society thought they were trying to act like men.  It took years for society to accept women's pants as professional attire.

Now we need men like you to wear skirt for the benefit of all mankind.  I encourage you and your friends to wear skirts.  If I was a man I would do it.  I mean it would be fun to see the reaction you get from people.  Then you could give the speech about challenging social convention.  I bet you get more positive responses than negative ones.

    Good luck.

  7. WOW...you’re not alone... Let's clear up some misconceptions:

    1. A KILT IS a SKIRT by DEFINITION so forget any differences! (Usually just heaver, far more costly and tartan but still a "skirt").

    2. You are one of the few males that does NOT suffer from HOMOPHOBIA! Most men do and so do many women. Afraid of being seen as weaker, g*y,  inferior which clearly isn't the case in just wearing a skirt. These are people unclear of their own sexuality so they mock others...sad but it shows the state of cerebral development they have.

    3.  Worn with guy clothes a skirt does not make a cross-dresser! Funny because it is impossible for women to cross-dress! (They already wear everything in the men's wardrobe)! The word should be obsolete. Leading designers say in the future all clothes will be unisex with one exception...The bra.

    4. Nothing is cooler than a skirt on a hot summer day. (Pun intended).

    5. Most miniskirts are really not a big change from a pair of shorts.

Most minis are in the 11" to 15" long range and fit guys fine. (we're not talking micro skirts). Just buy in the women's Junior's section because the hip dimensions are the same as guys. (Not too big yet).

Recommend e-Bay (search) for Cargo Miniskirts that are non girlie designed with lots of pockets and belt loops. They don't need to be modified and look great (also cheap).

    6. A guy in a skirt will still look like a guy! JUST LIKE a woman still looks like a woman when wearing pants! It will be a great day in western culture when people take their head out of the sand and open up the possibilities to changing men's boring boring wardrobe of just pants and shorts! Women are clearly more open minded except for the few selfish ones that see skirts as a women's only garment that suffer from homophobia.

    7. Once a guy has the guts to try one on for a few hours he will discover the comfort of not having anything binding at the crotch! Amazing how guys have not even tried this! A skirt is clearly better suited for the male anatomy than a woman’s!!! A perfect edition to a man wardrobe.

    8. Most women think a guy in a skirt is cool and good looking. Hopefully the gals will help the guys out and encourage the change. It's going to happen sooner or later...

    9. One last thing...wear undies as to not give those pushing the fashion envelope a bad name. You will have the exact same issues women have.

Soooo go for it. As they say... IT TAKES A REAL MAN TO WEAR A SKIRT BEFORE THEY ARE VOGUE!

Check a few examples below to confirm a guy still looks like a guy in a skirt. How can anyone have a problem with this?

  8. I really couldn't care less about what you decide to wear, but it really is socially unacceptable for a man to wear a skirt.

Now, if it was a kilt, and people knew you were Scottish and it was a wedding...? There would be no problem.

However, at this time and age, a man wearing a skirt who is not a crossdresser, who is not a transy, is just seen as completely bizarre.

You would receive an incredible amount of sh*t for it and really you would be looked down upon for it.

    Good luck

  9. was it a long or three quarter skirt? if yeah, it would be good, like some kind of ancient people, ya know..Plato and those ppl. gosh, you're my idol.

  10. skirt r much more better in summers

  11. umm...haha. good point!

  12. As far as I'm concerned, if you're wearing a skirt you should be playing the bagpipes.
