HDTV for new insignia tv?

i just got a new 26" insignia flat screen, and i have comcast digital cable, which is connected through the cable jack and av cords. and it works, but it only shows part of the screen, like a box with two black bars on each side. what do i need to do? i dont know how HD works.

If the picture quality is acceptable, and the only issue you have is with the black bars, then there is a feature on the remote and also in the menu settings I believe where you can zoom in on the picture. It stretches your picture out from a 4:3 to a 16:9.

Simply get an HD cable box from your cable company, and run an HDMI cable from the box to your new insignia.  The sales person at best buy should have told you this....
