HELP! Contemporary American Society!?

Question

I just started an on line class, Contemporary American Society, my first and last sociology class. We have to find/read a non fiction book that is relevant to contemporary american society. Anybody know of a book because I have no idea!

I am sensing frustration here and the desire to strike back.  I think you should read: 'h**l's angel: the life and time of Sonny Barger, by Sonny Barger.  It's the story of the guy who started, that right, the h**l's Angels.  From a sociological standpoint, it's a pretty matter of fact book.  It's relevant to society today, as it involves the war on drugs, organized crime and fringe groups of society becoming a major power.  It's a good read, sort of short and will take everyone in the class by surprise.  Good hunting.
