HELP ME!!! stirrups when mounting horse

Ok i always get my left stirrup twisted when i mount my horse and its so annoying. Everyone says turn it towards me, does that mean anti clockwise? please can someone run through this with me, I'm ok with everything else to do with mounting its just that. PLEASE HELP!! I feel so stupid :( Thankyouxx
