Question:

HELP dyeing my hair!! ?

Hi

I want to dye my hair again (non-permanent) I have done it once before about 6-8 months ago using Nicky Clarke hair dye (dark brown) and it went fine. This time I am using nice 'n easy dark brown non permanent hair dye.

Do I have to do an allergy test to make sure I am not allergic to the dye even though I have dyed my hair before? I really need to know because I am going on holiday tomorrow (early) and want to dye my hair tonight (an allergy test would take 48 hours)

Or is it better to be safer than sorry?

Thanks xxxx

  1. I Never do a skin test

but seeen as your going on holiday i would

you wouldnt want anything spoiling your holiday

  2. Your SUPPOSED to... But salons never do an allergy test. I have colored my hair numerous times and I never did an allergy test, but next time I seriously suggest coloring or chemically processing your hair like a few days to a week before a vacation, especially reds, or perms! The first few days of a new hair color are usually way more intense than you want them to be. You probably could dye it today- I personally wouldn't worry about being allergic, but it may turn out more intense too. So keeping that in mind you can make an educated decision of your own.

  3. I would do it if I were you. I've had a reaction to nice 'n easy before, you could just risk it if you have dyed your hair before.

  4. Dyes can be made of different levels of chemical so it's ALWAYS the best idea to do an allergy test.  Also, if your hair has dye already in it you may need to adjust the dye time to get proper results if you're redying OVER previously dyed hair. And it never hurts to be sure the color is right...lol.  That said, I've dyed my hair numerous times and I have never done an allergy test.  I think your best bet would be to do the strand test which takes 10 minutes or so with most boxed dyes and just make sure that the color is accurate. Generally if you are allergic to the dye it will react right away so the strand test should kill two birds with one stone.  Not to mention that semi-permanent dyes use lower chemical levels than permanent dyes so the risk of a reaction is less.

  5. if you've died your hair before than its probably gonna be the same way this time .. so you might just wanna do it so your hair looks pretty when you go away (:

  6. you are supposed to test the dye on a small patch of skin first like on your inner wrist that way you dont have to wait long and your hair will most likely be perfect

  7. i don't think you need to. i've used nice n' easy for years now and have never done an allergy test.

  8. i wouldn't bother with an allergy test just go for it you did it before and it was fine so it should be ok this time too

    Have a good holiday!!

  9. if you have used it before you should be ok but go on the computer and look up the die you used before it should tell you the ingredients then check up on the new one if they are more-or-less the same you should be fine but if you really are unsure i would take an allergy test

then take the die on hols wid u and do it on hol x

  10. if you want you can do an allergy test.. just dye it if its 48 hours for the allergy test.. good luck

  11. If you are dying it the same shade of brown, you should be safe.

Ive never done an allergy test on any hairdyes ive ever used.

ive never had a problem. It shouldn't really effect you. If youve used permanent hair dye before, then you should be ok becasue semi permanent is not so strong.

If you have a few allergies, then i would play it safe.

If not i would just go for it and not do an allergy test.

Or you could just do a quick allergy test, leave it overnight and wake up dead early. If you are allergic to it, there would be some signs, so if there aren't go ahead and do it in the morning a few hours before you go and then wash it out and blow dry your hair.

  12. if i were you i would test it first just to be safe cut a small peice of hair off and use the treament to see if you like the colour or put some one your skin because different products have different chemicals in them even though they are the same hair dye different brand

  13. Be safer than sorry in my opinion.

  14. i never did the allergy test & i was fine.

it would be a freak accdient if you were allergic but if you have used a simlar product before, your going to be fine.

but one piece of advice, dont go crazy with dying because it will kill your hair.
