HELP ! hermit crabs!?

Question

how often do hermit crabs need a new shell? and also how big do they get.. as well as how quickkly do they get big? i dont want a internet answer i want an experinced person..

I had a hermit crab for about two years. Hermie changed shells about twice a year. he didn't grow much. I could always feel the shell change coming because he would get really restless and make lots of noise all night. In the morning, he would be in a new shell. He never got much bigger than a golf ball.

I have 2 hermit crabs. Have had them about 4-5 months or so.  Only one has changed shells so far. Mine got pretty listless and went a wierd colour- whitish- then one morning I looked in on him and there was a white naked hermie looking back at me... hee hee. I put him in a separate tank with a shell and he hopped right into it. My other hermie can barely fit into his current shell but refuses to switch. Make sure u ghive them a few different shells, keep the tank warm and humid with a good substrate. When hes ready he'll switch. Im not 100% sure how many times they will do it. My hermies are about golf ball size.
