Does anybody know how many miles you have to move over to a regular lane if you have to exit into a HOV lane?

  1. No more than is reasonably necessary.  That might mean pretty much stopping to squeeze into the lane you need.

Since you're using the word "miles", I'm guessing either you misunderstand what a "mile" is, or you thought it would be a great excuse to cheat on the carpool lane.  Since you know the law number, I'll further guess that it didn't work :)

  2. You get a couple of hundred feet to merge THROUGH is all not even 1/4 mile worth of distance.  So if you were traveling in the lane for any distance other than what was required to slow down and immediately merge out of it you are guilty of traveling in the HOV lane.

  3. sorry, no clue....here in Milwaukee we only have HOV lanes on on-ramps.
