I purchased the HP CM1312NFI MFP color laserjet all-in-one printer with the intent of making it my primary SOHO network printer. I have three machines (XP Pro, Vista Ultimate w/bitlocker, and Vist Ultimate), I have attempted to add this printer to all of them with vareous levels of success. All of them failed with the initial disk, one of them (WinXP) worked after updating the driver from HP, another one started working after deleting it and "add printer" from within Vista (Vista Ultimate w/bitlocker), and the third one (Vista Ultimate does not work with any and all attempts. For reference I have been in IT support for 20 years and have NEVER been so frustrated as I am with this poorly written software from HP for this device. The Device Driver quality has gotten worse every year for 5 years in my personal experience.
I have decided that I will ONCE AGAIN remove the device, Drivers, remove latch components in Device mangeler, examine the registery, and attemp to reinstall it....not happy, not impressed, very disappointed.
On a positive note: Once it works, the printer itself is excellent and meets/exceeds my needs for quality, speed, and ease of use.
I don't want another printer...I want this one, and I want it to work!
Yes, as most of us IT guys...I am stuborn. Help?
