Well I have kept putting off trying out for the football team for two years now and now that I am a junior in high school I want to try out so I can play this year. The only thing that is holding me back from playing (they take everyone so no tryouts) is that I do not have that good of arm strength. I have never really worked out much and I max out bench wise at 145. Somebody told me that the average bench press for athletics is 200.Now If I worked out a lot more often I am sure I could get that up but is 145 too low? When I played with friends I am usually able to beat them deep and do well against them but that is not with tackling and such. I want to go out and play football for a real team but at the same time I do not want to go out there and my self look weak.
