HS Football question?

Well I have kept putting off trying out for the football team for two years now and now that I am a junior in high school I want to try out so I can play this year. The only thing that is holding me back from playing (they take everyone so no tryouts) is that I do not have that good of arm strength. I have never really worked out much and I max out bench wise at 145. Somebody told me that the average bench press for athletics is 200.

Now If I worked out a lot more often I am sure I could get that up but is 145 too low? When I played with friends I am usually able to beat them deep and do well against them but that is not with tackling and such. I want to go out and play football for a real team but at the same time I do not want to go out there and my self look weak.

  1. well if u would have been smart u would have played the first two years, because just playing would make u stronger. and snice u havent played your skill r not giong to be as good as someone who has been playing the two years u havent, because touch football is alot different then tackle football. but im going to be a senoir this year and my bench is 170 and im right in the middle of everyone one elses bench max

  2. Just play. Who cares if you do suck. You don't wanna look back 20 years later and wish you would have played do you?

  3. Good for you if you want to play and I hope you do well.

Don't over think it. Just get out there and let the coaches coach you and lead. Don't psyche yourself out.

    Have fun!
