  1. i have highlighted my hair while pregnant, as im told that it does not touch the root, therefore it dont sit in the scalp, i guess they believe that it can go in to your blood (chemicals) ....i still get asked why do i highlight, and i say b.c i know what im doing!

If it would make you feel better when dying the entire head, i know there is dye that is supposed to be safer, something having to do with pigments, and more like an "organic" dye, check with a local beauty store or search onlone for names...as for other people tell them mond your business, you still have a right to look good =) good luck

  2. I've heard you should wait until after the first trimester. I think the fumes are the main concern. Make sure you are in a well ventilated area.

I had this same dilemma through my whole pregnancy. I like my hair dark...it's naturally light reddish brown. I opted not to dye it. It's only 9 months. I have 2 weeks to go and then I'll dye it!

  3. i waited till i was in my 4th month and dyed my hair with a semi permanent hair dye ...just make sure you are in a well ventilated room ... look at all the pregnant celebrities.. do you see them with roots?

  4. hair dying is NOT safe.  the sye is absorbed into the skin and can cause birth defects. whoever told you it was is crazy..if it was your doctor get a new one.

  5. I really do not see the problem in why not dying your hair. For one thing if you dye it how on earth is that actually going to effect your baby.

  6. you shoulden't cause the smell goes in your body and maybe to your baby which isn't good for the baby

  7. lol your not killing your baby, if your scared then do hilites and not a solid color, hilites dont touch the scalp ,solid color does

im a hairsylist for 14 yrs

    girl go get your done....

  8. You shouldn't dye your hair.

  9. Hair dye does NOT penetrate your scalp therefore it doesnt get into your system. The only thing to be worried about is the fumes so just make sure you are in a well ventilated area. No one but ignorant people will think you are trying to kill your baby by dying your hair. Good Luck

  10. To be honest it really doesnt bother me what anyone says about dying hair because through this hole pregnancy ive died my hair. I know plenty of girls who have dyed their hair during pregnancy and all their babys came out fine. Im about to have my baby here in the next couple of weeks and hes still active as ever and ive had no complications during this pregnancy or anything. I will say that im not going to have bad roots to my neck the hole nine months. LOL. Do what you want to do and don't worry about anyone elses opinion take care girl.

  11. hair dye goes into the pores I think because it's absorbed into your body, it's meant to be unhealthy.

  12. I asked this same question and got a very informative answer from a user named BeautifulFairy.

Yes after 12 weeks of pregnancy

As a colorist, I will color hair during pregnancy. There has been no evidence of any danger from coloring hair during this time. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist's Planning for Pregnancy, Birth & Beyond says using hair color or hair perm products "is okay when you're pregnant. The New York office of the Organization of Teratology Information Services, which provides information on potential reproductive risks, says that while the data are limited, coloring your hair during pregnancy is probably safe. They point out that these chemicals have been around a long time and no research shows they cause defects in newborns. Plus, if you apply them safely (using gloves in a well-ventilated room), you don't really absorb much of the chemicals into your system.

Colorist Robert Craig says, "I highly suggest that you have your doctor explain 'why' if they suggest you don't color. One of New York's top OBGYN's delivered my son as well as two children of one of my client's. We never asked if it was safe and she never mentioned it. My client asked when she became pregnant with her first child and was told not to but no reason was given. During her second pregnancy they again were discussing haircolor. My client finally asked the doctor what she did (the doctor) when she had her two children and the doctor said, ‘Well, I am very short and don't like people to see my roots, so I colored my hair’. If it is going to bother you to color, I suggest you don't but if it is going to concern you more to have roots, well then, I suggest coloring. An alternative to applying haircolor to your scalp where it is absorbed into the body, is to do highlights or use bleach. Highlights can even be done with haircolor in the shade you regularly use."

  13. I think you are a very mature mom to be. If you disagree with me strongly, give me a thumbs down!

  14. Some people say not to because there is a fear that the chemicals from the dye can go into your bloodstream through your scalp.  There isn't enough research done to confirm or deny that though.  I had my hair dyed and bleached when I was around ... 8 weeks.  I don't think there is anything too bad, but if you do it often, and are concerned, ask your hairdresser to not get too much on your scalp.  Also, make sure you're in a well ventilated area of the salon too. :)

  15. Hair is on your head baby is in the belly....What's the connection? Not like your eating the dye or at least I hope not! :P

  16. it's ok as hair dye these days is very sophsticated and not the harsh bleach it used to be, as long as the room is well ventilated and you aren't inhaling strong fumes for a long time.

  17. in "what to expect when you are expecting" it says there are not proper studies that say you shouldn't do it...

i know a girl who dyed her hair every single month and her baby is healthy....

i decided not to do it because i need the facts and there are non out there, so... your choice.
