Hair testing/ dna for steriods?

I think i was given steriods for a certain amount of time unknowingly from my former occupation i dont want to say where, but I cut my hair and i saved it i was going to give it to locks of love and I was wondering if i got this hair tested would it show up?

I don't believe so, to be able to pick up stuff like that you would need a living cell and the cells at the end of your hair a dead, so there would be no way to do a good test to figure it out.  this is wha tI believe.  for my biolofy class we went to the science center and had out DNA looked at, but we had to use the top end of the hair with the oil at the end because the end with the oil is where there are still some living cells and they told us that they can't see DNA with dead cells, they need living cells
