Halloween costumes ideas for kids. ?

Question

I am trying to think of something cute for my 7 year old daughter and 3 year old son to go as. There is a costume contest in my town before trick or treat starts.

My daughter especially wants to try and win. Last year the family that won was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (it was a big family). I would be willing to dress up too. Any ideas?

You guys could all be cute trolls. I was a troll when I was 12.  I bought a pink skirt and cut the bottom of it in zig zag.  With my pink shirt, I cut the sleeves and the bottom of the shirt zig zag as well.  My stomach showed a little bit. I also wore purple tights. I wore a false nose and false pointed elf looking ears.  I used body paint that I got from Frankel's Costume and I painted my face, neck, arms (all my skin that was showing) with purple paint.  It turned out to be one of my best costumes ever. Oh, and with my hair I sprayed it with purple hair spray and I frizzed it up with a comb and blow dryer.  With your son, you could do the same thing, except have him wear pants and not color his skin because of his age.

Or, your son could be Peter Pan, you could be Wendy, and your daughter could be tinkerbell.  They have those costumes at about any Halloween store.

Or, your daughter could also be Pippi Longstocking.  I was her a couple years ago. I got a plain blue jean dress that almost came to my knees. I got patches from walmart and sewed some on. I wore knee high socks. One was striped yellow and black and the other was striped red and black. I wore black low cut boots and 3 beaded necklaces. For my hair I braided it in pigtails then got a wire coat hanger and my dad cut it with pliers to the length of my braid. Then I stuck the wire through my braid and made sure it was secure. Then I sprayed my hair orangeyred. And put fake freckles on my cheeks.

And then your son could be the monkey that she always carries around!!
