I have a about 1.5 yr old female hamster. Lately, she hasnt been doing well. She has lost a ton of weight and is skin and bones now, and she doesnt eat her food like she used to. Her bottom, near her butt and female area are smeared with this yellowish orange stuff. We thought it was her p**p but her p**p is normal in her cage. What could be wrong with her? Could it be female cancer?? Please tell me your best answer that you can tell me. I KNOW ITS NOT WETTAIL! SO DONT TELL ME IT IS. HER f***s ARE NORMAL!

  1. You have to take her to the vet right away or it might be something serious!

  2. OH DEAR! Immediately pack her in a traveling cage, and TAKE HER to the vet! My first hamster had a sad ending...sooo..............hopefully, everything will turn out alright.

  3. Why don't you ask someone in a pet store or vet?

  4. Please take her to a vet immediately for opinion!

As a hamster passes the age of one year signs of old age may appear such as fur loss, some weight loss, drying of skin and a general slowing down, although many hamsters do not show signs of old age until much later.

Hamster pee is normally yellow/orange/milky white in colour so if it is not p**p, it could be her pee. What is worrying is that why should a always groomed animal like hamster let it smear her butt and not clean it? This happens only when she is sick. Any sign of illness should be quickly treated by a vet as an elderly hamster may deteriorate very quickly when ill.

Keep feeding her lots of water until you take her to a vet, if she does not take it, force feed her with a syringe since dehydration is the main problem with any hamster sickness.

  5. sounds like she is dieing of old age. take it to the vet if you can, but one and a half years is pretty old for a hamster. it sounds like what happened to my first hamster before she died.

make sure she doesn't have watery diarrhea, that can cause wet tail, a fatal disease to hamsters
