Hamster toys!!?

Question

For some reason my hamster does not like paper towel tubes. Does anyone know any other toys? Also does anyone know how to make a little ladder for a hamster?

we used to just use old toilet paper rolls(cause theres plenty aha)

and you can go into the bird section at a cheap store and buy a ladder....

and acctually i'd cut up carrots into small enough size for their little paws and they'd play with them for the longest time it was cute(:

giving them some small amount off tissue they play around in for a while then build a small nest like thing to sleep in with it after..so it also serves a purpose.

just make sure its non toxic with no ink!

like no newspaper!

you can get a ladder from the bird section in yuor pet store. you can put chew toys on paper clips and hang them from the cage, or scent them with vanilla extract (they like new scents like that).

It might be because he is afraid to go into it because it feels too small.  You can also try Toilet Paper Tubes.  If those two fail, try cutting it down the middle so you could unroll it flat.  Then just leave it in his cage.  When he goes into is, his body will push it wider to fit his size and he'll feel safer.

As for ladders, you can go to any old pet shop and look at parrot toys and they have ladders of many different sizes and variations.  If you don't like the styles at one store, go to a different one.  I've found tons of different styles.  ^^  

As for other toys, my personal favorite is something call the knot knibbler or something like that from Petsmart.  I think those are great toys for any rodent.  (:

You can also take empty cereal boxes and lay them flat in the bottom of a glass aquarium.  That or tissue boxes, just make sure you remove the plastic insert.  It's really easy, but very important!!
