  1. females stink more and there more aggressive boys may fight alot

  2. Females:

    like a lot of attention

Don't smell as much as males

can be very energetic and hyper making them harder to handle if they don't want to be.

    Males:

Are very affectionate and love human attention.

Smell quite bad if not cleaned every 3 or 4 days

are not as fast making them easier to handle.

When the females go on heat they can be bred with the males. its the only time they can breed.

  3. Females can be grumpy & don't like to be handled us much.though they can be very sweet.Yes females come into heat every 3-4 days this doesn't have a noticeable affect though.

Males: Are normally the "better" hammy to own,but not always.

Why don't you go for a female if you already have males? I think go for a girly!!

    Hope this helps! x*x

  4. well boy hamsters have balls

  5. As a reputable breeder of show hamsters with several years experience, I can tell you that it is NOT fine to keep two Syrian hamsters together. Ever. The only time they can be caged together is a female with babies until they reach about 4 weeks.  Syrians are solitary animals. They will never be happy in a cage with another hamster no matter how the owner may delude himself or herself.  They are stressed, they WILL fight, and one or both WILL end up dead.  If there are any exceptions to that rule, they are truly one in a billion.  As for getting a third hamster-you certainly would not put a female in the cage because she would constantly breed. You would have babies every 16 days, and they would be killed due to the stressful situation of the adults being caged together.  The female would have a shorter lifespan due to being overbred.

If you are asking the attributes of males vs females as pets, it has been my experience that males tend to make better pets because they do not smell as strongly.Females, as you stated, go into heat very often (every 3 days, actually),and there is a scent associated with the heat cycle. The heat or season is the time when the female is fertile and can get pregnant.

  6. If the new hamster is going into the same cage as the two males you already own, I think I would lean toward getting another male. Hamsters in general tend to live most comfortably with their own gender. It is a whole other ball of wax should you put a female hamster in their cage with the possibility of hamster litters (and "going into heat" just means that the female is physically ready to procreate. So every 3-4 days, she's ready to make baby hamsters!). But something also to consider is when you add a new hamster to a preexisting hamsters' home, I've read that it's best to add a young female to an older male. Supposedly, that dynamic is the easiest for hamsters to adjust to if they weren't raised together. If you're getting a new hamster in their own home, I think a girl hamster would be fun. It'd show you a side-by-side of how male and female hamsters are different.
